All I wanted was just a point and shoot camera but this camera started getting under my skin against my intention. Once I switched to manual mode, something magical things started happening. Like a riding a bicycle, taking off the training wheels is the scary things to do but once I started playing with all the manual settings, I was hooked. Loves the feel of the metal and it has just right amount of weight further more it nicely nestles in my hands. The more pictures I take the more this camera grows on me. When I was standing in front of this blue warehouse I felt such a wonderful sensation of bliss. We every once in a while experience this unexplainable  sensation of happiness with no reason, lucky me, was this color of blue against mauve color of evening light or just evening air of the place I don't know but one thing for sure I was standing there enjoying the sensation of satisfaction being alive. To recaptured the moment I went back to the spot but unfortunately the warehouse wasn't there anymore due to new development or something, sad but can't stop the change of time. So I thought may be I can capture the sensation through my painting and painting from my memory and I only remembered only what was important for my painting like blue warehouse which actually had a lots of colors in it, transparent pink in the background and best of all the blue color of the air, soft lights hitting the side walk and oh I put a puppy for the scale. I needed lots of softness and brush strokes to balance out against lots of straight shapes in the picture. Usually I take west bound but this time I wanted to experience something different. Out of my comfort zone I force myself to take almost 37 hour flight including 2 layovers instead of 12 hour flight. I had nothing but time. Result was AWESOME!, different airports, foods, people, scenery and time zone. Everything I saw, heard and smelled was first time so my senses were raw and vivid. In spite of being dead tired and sleepy I had such great trip. The beginning of a new day feeling refreshed. Living in southern California I get this blinding sun light pretty much all year round, lucky me! I enjoyed painting this piece although it end up a little bit messy as I've been relying too much  on my drawing but I forced myself to be more free and relaxed on this one. It always gets messy when I start doing something new as I don't know what to expect around the corner. Yet, I don't mind to freeze to death if I can see the northern light and feel the piercing air into my lungs. I had a worst experience on the night train without heater during traveling northern Japan Hokkaido. My can of Coke was frozen by the morning so since then being cold is my worst nightmare. Well then again, why not pay a visit to the Arctic Circle if I can experience the sight of striking colors all around. As I was keep painting and thinking how am I suppose to paint snow in the night???, I don't know why but I knew didn't want to show snow all over the painting so my instinct told me to paint mostly around the lighting area, at the same time I prepared different value of the snow. As all we know that if we change one thing we have to change something else to balance the change. Some time it seems wise to wait to think the painting is done. As time passes by the painting seems start appearing differently may be because our eyes get use to it and start seeing more objectively. To me, a simple shape of a bar counter triggers a painting, I don't know when, what and why I urge to paint. Most of the time I don't know the details of a painting at he beginning but as I progress, a painting starts taking it's shape on the canvas. From the start to the finish this act of painting is a series of decision making. This always fascinates me as there is no single answer how to finish it so it's all up to me. Among them there was a color called venetian red which I thought probably I won't be using it as I tend to shy away from unfamiliar colors or I would say dear to try it. From one markings to the other my eyes wonder around in a painting, I would say it's like a little voyage on a canvas and furthermore markings appear slightly different depend on the time of the day. It's a never ending story once my eyes are trapped inside a painting wonder around from one strokes to the other. So I kept making markings all over this painting but at some point my eyes told me it's time to stop. My eyes were telling me that all marking seems happy together with neighboring markings. This piece I really enjoyed coming up something interesting within limited shapes or areas of painting, I would say. One more thing I realized that it is easy to recognize a painting from a distance if it is painted in a simple way, which I have to think about. Well, I was so wrong this time. I never had a piece that went through so many changes along the way, the color of the wall I had change 4 or 5 times and further more I changed the color of the foreground 4 or 5 times. As you know if you change one thing you have to change another, I was pulling my hair out. Going to sleep thinking that everything seems coming together after so many changes but in the morning I was convinced somebody might have came in and changed the piece. I kept telling myself, What a .............! It is such a dilemma and painful to think I might have to change the colors AGAIN! Walking the tarmac was almost like walking on a cloud already. Not being a frequent flyer I should be thankful as I can still get excited even way before my flight. Packing, heading to the airport, check-in and even long lines of TSA, I don't mind at all, the longer the line my excitement grows higher.  Then talking about snoop around restaurants and duty free shops, I just mousey on like a cow. That's why it takes such a long time to just get to my gate, and talking about actual flight experience, it's an another long story. All I wanted was just a point and shoot camera but this camera started getting under my skin against my intention. Once I switched to manual mode, something magical things started happening. Like a riding a bicycle, taking off the training wheels is the scary things to do but once I started playing with all the manual settings, I was hooked. Loves the feel of the metal and it has just right amount of weight further more it nicely nestles in my hands. The more pictures I take the more this camera grows on me. My main concern was how I can come up with interesting shapes, fortunately I loved and enjoyed making all the shapes one after the other in the piece. I had no intention to communicate any kind of messages nor concepts. Simply I only painted -Sensations-with lines, shapes, colors and textures not much of the old warehouse itself. Just follow the textures throughout the painting, then hopefully you'll enjoy traveling through your own personal sensations. It's not much of reading the painting but more like feeling the painting.
